Obituary of Duane H. McLaughlin

Retired Msgt. Duane H McLaughlin "Pastor", of Las Vegas, NV, passed away November 10, 2014. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, mentor, pastor, counselor and friend. Duane was born March 1, 1950 in Gardinar, Maine to Edgar and Ingaborg McLaughlin. Duane McLaughlin served in the United States Air Force for 23 years retiring as a Master Sargent. While in the Air Force, Duane was awarded All European 3rd Baseman while serving in RAF Lakenheath, England. Duane was ordained as a minister in 1979 and it has always given him much joy. Duane really loved his family with all his heart and was never shy to let them know. He was an avid runner and loved to play golf whenever he could. Whenever he was able, Duane would be at the grandchildren's baseball games and catch as many dance performances or anything he could do for his grandchildren, his son, or his daughters. Duane's second retirement was from Texas State University as a Sports Facilities Manager. Duane is survived by spouse Diane L McLaughlin; son Jason Duane (Crystal) McLaughlin; daughters Kimberly (Charles) Haas and Kelli (Joe) Jackson; grandchildren Kalie Nicole McLaughlin, Devin Raelynn McLaughlin, Ayden Lee McLaughlin, Jaryn Micheal McLaughlin, Kellen James McLaughlin, Rylen Duane McLaughlin, Rachel Haas, Amanda Knowlton, Keith Haas, Shelby Jackson, Coby Jackson, Braden Jackson; great grandchildren Cameron, Sadie and Logan Knowlton, Alexandra and Ian Haas; sisters Margot Ferrera, Carla Obert, and Heidi (Michael) Dryden; nieces and nephews Angel Raver Ferrera, Jessica and Sarah Obert, and Aaron, Kyle, Savanna and Jade Dryden. A funeral service with internment will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 12:40pm at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005. A Celebration of Live service will be held following the funeral service at Calvary Community Church, 2900 North Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89108. Following the Celebration of Life Service, a Wake will be held at 4612 Pacer Avenue, North Las Vegas, NV 89031.
