I had the pleasure of getting to know Duane as we worked together in Texas such a short time ago. There were so many great conversations and funny moments shared as we worked side by side. He always had such a positive attitude about everything he was presented and taught me how to handle so many interesting situations. As Duane and I and our spouses gathered outside of work we also knew how special his relationship was with his wife, Diane. Their love for one another so precious. Phyllis and I will always have a special place in our hearts for you both. Please know we send our love and prayers to you and your entire family. I can hear his voice and see his smile so clearly as I write and think of him today. May we forever feel him present in our lives.

Eternity’s Thine
By Betty Walchok 11/13/14
Duane,
He was a man of truth that did not boast;
His name was not known from coast to coast.
He did not desire that the world should know his name;
He did not strive for fortune nor fame.
A military man, a family man; living a quiet, gentle, peaceful life;
loving Jesus, loving his wife.
Throughout the years and places there were many lives he touched,
to them, kindness and wisdom he poured out much.
As a husband, dad, mentor, pastor and friend, his love he spoke out with out holding back.
In simple conversation he poured out his insight with grace and mercy so none should lack.
So now, no names in lights,
but where it counts most, in the hearts of many, his name shines bright.
Duane, we love you and miss you but know without a fuss
that we will meet again in Heaven when the Lord calls us.
For now our hearts break, but there is no mistake
We will all be together in the Lord’s good time,
In Heaven together, forever, Eternity’s thine.

Such an amazing friend & mentor. A man full of kindness & wisdom. A rare jewel I had the privilege of knowing & calling a good friend. My life is truly better for having known him. There is a hole in my life that he once filled....that always encouraging voice of unwavering faith that was never unavailable to pray for & counsel me. That genuine smile & hug that let me know he cared like a father. Even though I am hopelessly flawed, I never ever felt any judgement from him, only acceptance & love. I can't say that about hardly anyone. He truly was an incredible person. The world has lost someone very special & I am thankful I didn't miss out on his friendship. My prayers are with his family, especially his other half, an equally special person, Diane. We will all hug & laugh again together one day in Heaven. For now, parting is such sorrow.

We met Duane through baseball. Tyler plays with his grandson. We spent many hours together watching games. It was our good fortune to get to know Duane personally outside of baseball as well. Our hears hurt after losing Duane, but we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering. Our love and prayers go out to Diane and the whole family as they figure out how to go on without Duane.
Love,
Carlas, Heather, and Tyler Avery

He was always welcoming and gracious to our family. We're sending prayers of peace & comfort out to all those hurting from his departure, but we do not mourn like those with no hope. We know he is helping Christ prepare a place for us. He is reunited with those who've gone before him & awaiting our arrival. God bless the McLaughlin family. Love y'all

I am still in shock. We knew he was going, but our final conversation was bittersweet. He was such a good person, he had so much Godly wisdom. He called me "Jelly Bean." We loved him so much. Diane has been my best friend since we were 12 yrs old and my heart breaks for her. We know where he is and we know he's not in pain anymore. But it still hurts. My love goes out to all of the family. We love all of you. Such a great family. Sorry for the pain you're going through. We pray God's peace and Grace get you through this. We love you so, Leta and Larry Jones

Those of us who have had the blessing of your wisdom, the privilege of your presence and the gift of your friendship will miss you and be forever made better people for having known you. Although it is with a heavy heart that I write these words about a friend who was within arms reach here on earth, I rejoice that you are now within arms reach of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I will see you again and will always remember you until then.
My heartfelt condolences and prayers are with Diane and her family during this tender time. I am so sorry for your loss.
Love to all,
Donna
