Obituary of Katherine Rozanne Taitano

Katherine Rozanne Taitano, 49, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Born on August 30, 1964 in Santa Rita, Guam USA to the late Jose G. and Maria Q. Taitano. Katherine graduated from De Anza High School in 1982 and received two years of education at Contra Costa College. She never married, had no children but left behind so many loving life-long friends. Katherine lived in the Bay Area (especially San Pablo and El Sobrante, California) for most of her life after leaving her home island of Guam in 1976 after Typhoon Pamela. She worked as a Bank Manager for several years in the late 1980's and early 1990's. She later worked as a Manager for a Charity in Sacramento for Adults with Mental Disabilities until 1996. She moved back to Dededo, Guam in 1996 to spend time with her late mother before her mother's passing in 1997. She remained in Guam until 2005 when she relocated to California to live with her sisters in Antioch, California. She was last employed as an Office Manager at Check-Into-Cash in Antioch, California before leaving for Las Vegas, Nevada in 2008. Although Katherine did not have any children of her own, she was very active in the lives of family and nieces/nephews. She is predeceased by her grandmother, Felicita Quinata Sablan, her two older sisters, Margarita Q. Taitano, Fermina Taitano, her brother-in-law Avelino Santos, and godparents Dolores and Thomas San Nicholas. She is survived by her siblings: Teresita M. Taitano, Lourdes T. Leon Guerrero, Anisia T. Santos, Natividad M. Taitano, Helen R. Tyson, Norma J. Taitano, Lila C. Taitano, Joseph Q. Taitano, David J. Taitano, Esther D. Taitano, Lina T. Sonico, and Melissa M. Taitano. Her brother and sister in laws: Arthur Leon Guerrero, George Tyson, Judy Taitano, MaMay Taitano and Francisco Sonico. Her favorite nieces and nephews, Jordan Taitano ( Trinity), Jonathan/ Doris Santos (Joey, Kaylani, Joshiah, Elijah), Joel/ Ysenia Taitano (Alejandra), Matthew Taitano, Jade Taitano (Addison), Jake Taitano, Heather Tyson, Dana Taitano (Angelyse/Ayla), Samantha Taitano, Christopher Taitano, Jazmyne Taitano, Montana Taitano, Marleena Sonico, Jacqueline Dutt, Julius Dutt, Mylani Sonico. Viewing will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Kraft- Sussman Funeral Home between 2-5pm. At her request, she will be cremated with final resting in Guam.
