I met Shara on the Crohns Group online many months ago. I will always remember her helping someone else, and offering a kind word, even though she may have been having a tough day. Crohns is an extraordinarily tough disease taking its toll on someone mentally and physically. It is an exhausting painful way to live and I will always be grateful for the kindness that Shara brought to the group. I will miss her. My heart goes out to her husband, family, and friends. She was a very special person that I feel blessed to have met. May she rest now, free from pain finally. There is a special angel above us now. Thank you God for Shara.

To the family of Shara - this is the 3rd time that I am to post this. I never got to meet Shara in person. I wanted to but live in Canada. We both belong to a Crohn's support group. I joined because my son was diagnosed with crohn's and I was looking for answers. I didn't find the answers I was looking for but I did find Shara. She was my favourite on that forum and we kept in touch via Instagram for the last couple years. I loved her sense of humour, her honesty, her passion.
A couple of days ago (when I first tried posting), I purchased purple petunias in honour of Shara, and have planted them in my garden. Everyone knew how much she loved purple. In fact, whatever or whomever she loved, it was with such force.
I am so sorry for your loss. She was and is a beautiful soul that didn't have the strong physical body to match. She spoke of her family to me - loved everyone very much. May she be in peace and reunited with her mother, who she missed very much.
Miss you Shars.

Thank you for your kind words about Shara. The consistent message we continue to receive from those that reach out is that Shara was such a good, loyal friend to all that she met whether it be in at the poker tables, in the a Crohn's chat room or on social media. Shara is home in Chicago now and we are planning her memorial service...with hopes of getting a dedication stone similar to her mom's to be place at the park and share the same tree. Friends like you are invaluable!

To the family of Shara - I never met Shara in person. I met her via the Crohn's support group when I was looking for answers (my son was diagnosed with Crohn's). I never found the support I wanted with that group, however, Shara was my favourite person, and we kept in touch via Instagram. I really enjoyed her humour - her honesty - her passion. She shared easily and was empathetic and intelligent.
I am sorry for your loss. I am sorry that this beautiful soul wasn't matched with a physical body that was stronger. She will be missed. Many on the Crohn's forum that Shara belonged to were sadden by her passing as she was a favourite to all.
I purchased purple petunias today in honour of Shara and will be planting them in my garden. We know she loved all things purple. May this beautiful soul be in peace now.

Thank you! The day Shara passed, we too planted flowers but we planted ours at the park near our house where there is a memorial tree in honor of her mother Debbie. We knew Shara was finally at peace and with her mom once again. We didn’t plant all purple flowers simply because they didn’t show up as well as a mix of colors with the dark soil. The entire time we were planting we kept laughing because in the back of our minds we could hear her saying more purple you know it’s my signature color!

Shara is one of the rare ones you'll never forget. She was so cool and unique but her kindness will set her apart far far apart from the pack. Her style was so cool and her own because she loves lululemon and have on thumb hole sweaters. She played stronger and harder than any person I ever faced and if you wanted competition she was there to make you regret wanting it. My greatest nemesis I could ever ask for, the kindness of hearts, the best a person can ever become, the best friend a person could ever ask to have. I know you are there with your mom you always missed. You always be missed

Thank you for sharing your memories of Shara! Oh the stories she would tell about sitting at the poker tables and how much she loved taking all the tourists money when they came to town. Shara always referred to her Lulu Lemon clothes as here “uniform” except when it came to WSP season when she would sport whatever new WSP top for the series. It is only fitting there is no WSP this year, just like when the strip goes dark to honor things, we like to believe that no WSP this year is to honor her.

Shara was such a special and treasured friend. I will miss her terribly!! I will never forget her, she had such a big heart. Although she sometimes struggled, she was always there for her friends. She was always ready to give advice, share a story or just lend an ear. RIP my dear friend. You will be missed by so many but you will always be in our hearts. I’m not ready to say goodbye, so I will say until I see you again. I’m lighting a purple candle in her honor.

Thank you Paula for lighting a candle in memory of Shara and sharing your thoughts and memories. As you know, candles and the color purple were two of her favorite things. The irony here that we were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago to pack up Shara's things and her most recent candle scent obsession was Macintosh Apple which was bright red in color which didn't make sense to any of us. You were a great friend to Shara so please keep her in your thoughts, prayers and memories always!

Shara will always be my Robin. She called me Batwoman because she always reminded me how strong I was. I will miss teasing her about me having snow. I had the honor of meeting Shara in 2009 and my life was forever filled with our random conversations about the color purple, social media people, poker, and Ellie licking her in the ear! I find myself going to text her so much because it’s not reality yet that my friend has gained her wings. I love you forever Shara my sidekick for life!

Thank you Ty for the beautiful ribbon design in honor of Shara and for all the kind words. She spoke of you frequently. We were in Vegas a couple of weeks ago with Mikey and both Ellie and Tobi miss Shara terribly. The only positive one can find in this situation is that Shara is pain-free and united with her mom and hopefully finally at peace. The day that Shara passed we planted flowers at her mom's memorial tree to united them together again. Thank you Batwoman for being such a true friend!

Shara’s laugh was her Mom’s, warm and sincere. Her eyes were Debbie’s as well, soulful and deep. She got her tenacity and fight from her Dad. She was thoughtful and caring. She texted us two weeks ago to make sure we were doing well...that was Shara. She was all this and so much more. May she Rest In Peace. We love you all, Carol and Mark
