Rabbi Pam Frydman posted a condolence
Sunday, October 14, 2018
JD was a special person and a good friend. I am glad that we were in each other's lives. JD worked on the staff of the Grant County Beat in Grant County, New Mexico until a couple of weeks before he passed away. The Beat's owner Mary Alice Murphy told me how much she enjoyed working with JD.
JD's wife Marti is a wonderful person. Marti and JD hosted me in their home in 2016-2017 when I served the congregation where they belong.
During JD's final ill, he connected me with his First Cousin Ron Dahl and First Cousin Dixie Jenkins Dahl. Ron and Dixie are wonderful. Ron belongs to a church that he helped to build and his Pastor and the entire congregation prayed for JD during his illness. Dixie also prayed for JD during his illness and his passing brought great sorrow to Ron and Dixie and others in JD's family of origin.
JD's sons Brian, Matthew and Seth were at JD's bedside during his final days and they and many of us attended the special wedding ceremony for JD and Marti celebrating their marriage at the time of their 35th anniversary. Rabbi Yocheved Mintz officiated at the ceremony that was held on Sunday, September 23rd. Some of us attended by being in JD's hospital room that was decorated for the occasion. Some attended via live streaming and some via conference call.
JD and Marti enjoyed chocolate wedding cake on their special day and JD told us how much he enjoyed the cake. The timing of the celebration could not have been more perfect. JD passed away the followed Thursday September 27th.
May JD's memory be a blessed. May he rest in peace.
