Bob Young posted a condolence

My name is Bob Young.. I knew Nancy when she was a dispatcher at Ventura PD in Southern California., maybe 1978 or 1979. She was Nancy Skyrme then.
Such a beautiful person. I was a young Sheriff's Deputy working "The Avenue". VPD Dispatch was in a trailer on Garden Street at the end of "The Avenue"
I used to love hearing her voice on the radio, I stopped in often to talk. We dated for a while. She was way out of my league. She lived in a condo on the Channel Islands Harbor. She had this little green MG roadster., She had a 5 year old daughter named Chessley.
One night we drove down to Westwood for the premier of "Lord of the Rings".
We were together for Christmas eve. I think 1978 or 1979. I bought Chessley a fuzzy Teddy Bear
We spent our last time together that New Years Eve that year. I had to go to work at midnight. We stayed together in front of the fireplace until I had to leave.
She was such a special person.
I don't know if anyone still monitors this site. If so, could you please ask Chessley to contact me at yandebob@aol.com

So very sad to hear of this wonderful writer's passing. I have just got another of Nancy's books out of the local library and I know I'm in for a wonderful reading. Another one of my favourite writers gone...................God bless her and I hope she is happy riding, dressed wonderfully and reading at her leisure xo = Helen (Aotearoa/New Zealand)

Nancy and I were at Gulf Park College together and were friends. The world is a sadder and darker place with such a bright light gone.

I was Nancy's editor for books published by Dutton and Kensington. What a thrill it was to discover her manuscript for MITIGATING CIRCUMSTANCES - and the excitement never waned as her creativity continued to flow through one exciting book after another. Her great beauty was matched by her fierce intellect and her commitment to justice as a right to be enjoyed by every individual. She cared deeply about others. We worked together for about 15 years and became close friends. I will miss her terribly, but she will live on in my heart. My condolences to all who knew and loved her.

I knew Nancy long ago when we were very young girls living on Elmhurst In the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, Texas. We had lots of fun wandering the neighborhood, sometimes getting into a bit of trouble for being where we ought not be. One of our favorite activities was watching her older sisters, Linda and Sharon, dress up for dates. My uncle, Jerry Joe Ford, eventually married Sharon. Nancy had a great imagination and often narrated running storylines about whatever we were up to. I have to smile remembering Nancy, but am very sorry to hear of her passing.

I sent a condolence but it was not posted so I am attempting another one. If there are two posts, the family can decide which to keep.
I knew Nancy when she worked at the Ventura County Probation Offices. She was my friend for many years. I remember Nancy as a woman with fierce beliefs and a tireless advocate for victim’s rights.
Nancy was a woman of great beauty, dignity, class and vast creativity. She will be missed by her family that she loved so deeply, her friends that she cherished, her colleagues in law and in the publishing world and her fans.
She graced us all with her love. I feel blessed to have known her. My heart felt condolences to her family.
