Obituary of Urbania Diaz

Urbania Diaz, age 86, of Las Vegas and formerly of New York, died Friday, January 30, 2015. Urbania was born June 13, 1928 in Puerto Rico to the late Jose and the late Asuncion (Delgado) Diaz. She retired as a seamstress for Vanguard Military, making ropes, specialized buttons and other accessories for military uniforms. Urbania enjoyed all types of stitchery and made beautiful pieces of handicraft in her free time. She was also an avid gardener and amazing cook. Urbania was always opening her home to others and it was said that she could cook a Spanish feast in less than 30 minutes. She was an active member of the Rock of Salvation Church in the Bronx, participating in their women's club, religious services and volunteering wherever and whenever needed. Urbania is survived by her children Aracelis (Denny) Deutschkron; Margarita (John) Hempstead and Pablo Diaz; grandchildren Paul Mundo, Kristin Mundo, Neil Mundo, Sabrina Ganz, James Deutschkron, Danny Diaz, Marylou Berry, Terry Williams, Fernando Diaz the 4th, Mylah Roberts and Javier Walls; Great Grandchildren: Kenneth Deutschkron, Raschela Deutschkron, Michelle Ganz, Samantha Ganz Pepper, Jacquelyn Ganz, Charlotte Mundo, Emily Mundo, Moses Diaz, Levi Diaz, Margarita Dallas, Mohagany Berry, Gabriel Turner-Diaz, Fernando Diaz the 5th, and Giovanni Henry and Great Great Granddaughter: Jayden Rae Ganz. She is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Fernando Diaz. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, February 6, 2015 in the chapel at Woodlawn Cemetery, Webster Avenue And 233rd Street, Bronx, NY with burial immediately following. ..
