Obituary of Oralee Whadcock

Oralee "Lee" Ritchie Whadcock of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away Sunday, January 11th, 2015. She was born January 12, 1920 in Los Angeles, California to Harry Brown Ritchie and Oralee Wells Ritchie. Lee grew up in Los Angeles with two older brothers, Harry and John. She thrived in the dance community and especially in Scottish Highland dancing, where she received many awards. Her passion for dance continued throughout her lifetime. In October of 1940 Lee met her forever love, Leslie Patchen Whadcock. They were married November 2, 1940 at the Wee Kirk O' the Heather in Glendale, CA. They Celebrated 60 years of many adventures; living life and always bringing joy and laughter to everyone around them. Together they took the world by storm and left behind a long legacy of beauty and love. Anyone who was fortunate to see their love first hand received the gift of knowing what true love was all about. It's the legacy they have passed to their children, grandchildren and great - grandchildren. Lee's greatest joy in life came from her loving family. Her daughters Janice (Gerald) Hornick and Barbara Rightmyer (James Wallace). Her Grandchildren: Blair (Chris) Sawyer, Jason (Patricia) Hornick, Sufia (David) Levin, Caleb (Nichole) Rightmyer, Jessica Rightmyer, her six great – grandchildren, and Hal Rightmyer. In Lee's later years she was cared for by her daughter Barbara and James Wallace at their home in Las Vegas, where she could still reign as the Queen. When in failing health, Lee received loving care from the staff at Better Living Home Care II. We will miss your laughter and the joy you gave us all.
