Obituary of Carroll Lee Myers

Carroll “Carl” Lee Myers “, age 74, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on January 13,2015 with his family by his side. Carl was born on November 26th , 1940, in Martins Ferry, Ohio to Carl and Pauline Myers. He graduated in 1960 from Washington-Bloomfield High School, Ohio. He proudly served in the US Army from 1960 to 1963 where he served time in Germany. He then enlisted in the US Air Force from 1965 to 1977 where he was in equipment operator and instructor. During his time in the Air Force Carl supervised and trained over 6,000 Air Force personnel at disaster preparedness schools. During his Vietnam tour of duty he supervised combat teams during active duty. He received five letters of commendation and fourteen ribbons during his military career. He also served in Korea and the Vietnam war during his time in the Air Force. His only child Wendy was born March 26th, 1976 in Jeonju, South Korea where Carl was stationed at the time and moved with her mother and father to the United States. After leaving the Military Carl worked as a corrections Officer in Arizona, San Diego, Corona, and Crescent City, CA. Carl married Doris Barber, the love of his life and soul mate on June 4th , 1990. They traveled and explored several places before making their home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked as a Security Guard in Las Vegas until he retired in 2010. Carl enjoyed working in the yard, that he and Doris spent countless hours of working on and adding too. One of his favorite hobbies was carving and painting wood figurines for an entire collection of ox, horses, cowboys and Indians. He is preceded in death by his father, Carl Myers, his mother Pauline, and his only brother Richard Myers. On a more personal level he is survived by his loving wife Doris Myers, his daughter Wendy Lau, her husband Benjamin, and their children Connor and Claire; eight stepchildren: Tyrone, Wayne, Robert, Steve, Debra, Barbra, Jackie, and Seri, along with many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Carl was a wonderful husband and father and will sorely be missed by his family and friends. Carl will be laid to rest with Military Honors on Monday, February 2nd , 2015 at 1:30 pm at Miramar Cemetery in San Diego, CA under the direction of Kraft Sussman Funeral Services. The family wishes to thank all those that were there in their time of need. God saw you getting tired A cure was not to be, So he put his arms around you And whispered, “Come with Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you And saw you fade away, Although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay.
