I am at a loss for adequate words to express my grief for you three. I had the blessed opportunity of knowing auntie and I know heaven just received one of its most special angels. She was so full of life and laughter and will be truly missed. God bless you and the family.

To My Dearest Auntie Nene,
We will never forget your colorful nature, bigger than life persona (especially for someone only 4'10"/just kidding auntie) and how you always liked to push the envelope. Your often brutal candor, could only be rivaled by your witty humor, which truly made you one of a kind. You and I shared countless adventures traveling between the High Desert, the State Line and Las Vegas; that I will always cherish and continue to hold dear. Thank you for all the memories throughout the years Auntie. I love you.....
Your Loving Nephew
John-John

of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know
they are happy.

We want to thank you, Auntie, for all the fond memories and uncontrollable laughs throughout the years. All of the Burgos cousins had so much fun being part of your life and truly enjoyed all of the Burgos gatherings with you in Port Hueneme, Oxnard, Camarillo, San Diego, Las Vegas, and NorCal. Auntie, you have touched our lives and you will forever hold a very special place in our hearts. For that we are so grateful to have been part of your life. May your legacy go on and I know you are now dancing and laughing with Tatay, Nanay, and Lolo and Lola Meniado! Please give them lots of hugs and kisses for all of us.
Until we meet again...

As I was trying to listen to the voicemail messages of auntie Nene in my cellphone, I can't help but miss her....
I'll be missing her calls, her voice, our marathon conversations on the phone about everything under the sun, her advises on how to deal with challenges of living here in the U.S. and her "bottomline" advise, which is - to just keep on praying and believing in God.
Auntie Nene can be described in many positive ways like caring, loving, generous, energetic, prayerful, accommodating and sincere. But the best thing to describe or call her in our family (the Burgos clan) in our tagalog language is the "Tagapagbuklod". She is the usual person who makes it possible to unite everybody specially her siblings. That is why the family is always together no matter what.
May we always remember auntie Nene and keep her memories alive in our hearts and minds now and forever.

(Part II)
Auntie Nene has always been very accommodating and has always "all out" with her love, support and help. That's why we describe her in Ilocano as "Managisagot" or very caring. She might not be physically here with us anymore, but her memories will forever be in our hearts and minds.
Auntie, wherever you are, please bring with you our prayers and endless love. THANK YOU so much auntie for everything. Our love and gratitude for you are more than words can say.
To my cousins, kuya Dale, Manfred & Dandan, just remember that we will always be here for you. Be strong. Let's just keep in touch always.

(Part I)
Have you ever experienced being with someone, who, even if she's already in the verge of death, is still thinking about the welfare of others? I just did.
In my short stay in the hospital where auntie Nene was, during the few precious moments of her life, I have personally witnessed and experienced how CARING and SELFLESS she was. She was already having difficulty of breathing and could hardly talk but the moment she saw me there, she told me in Ilocano to sleep in her house. At one point, she called my attention by trying to raise her hand. I thought she will ask me her usual things like ice, water and paper towels - but I was stunned when, in between her deep breath, she asked me in Ilocano "nangan kan?" meaning if I already ate? I was so touched and felt badly at the same time because of the fact that we might be losing her....

This picture perfectly captures the extremely cheerful, charming, effervescent, vivacious, beautiful, and family-oriented aunt that will forever remain in my heart and soul. She always addressed her extended family and friends as "anak" (children) regardless of age or degree of relation as she showered everyone with equal amounts of love.
Auntie Nene always made me laugh with her unique persona and uncanny ability to tell tall tales while speaking a million miles a minute! She was a very successful entrepreneur who taught me many tricks of the trade and a pioneer in the care home industry. She was my mentor, another mother figure, and will forever be our guardian angel. God bless you, Auntie! I love you…

Auntie Nene played a very pivotal role during my formative years as she introduced me to the importance of placing God and faith above all.
I explicitly recall when we drove to Saint Mary Magdalen Church in Camarillo, California (which is the same city where this picture was taken), and we proceeded to walk inside to pray. Much to our dismay, the church doors were locked. Naturally, I expected Auntie to walk back to her car, but instead, I personally witnessed her unconditional dedication and commitment to faith and God: She gently knelt before the solid wooden doors, made the sign of the cross, bowed her head, and began to pray. I was astonished and in absolute awe to see my aunt’s devotion to her faith that not even locked doors could keep her from connecting to God. It was at that moment, at the tender age of 5, that I realized the true importance of God and faith through my Auntie Nene.
Perhaps that’s why Auntie passed away so suddenly and days before Pop Francis’ visit to her hometown of the Philippines. She had martyr-like qualities combined with benevolence, selflessness, and altruism--traits often considered to be saintly. I will truly miss her presence and unique way of making me and our loved ones laugh hysterically. I know that she is joined by Nanay, Lolo Picong, and God. I will eternally miss you, Auntie, and you will forever have a special place in my heart. May you rest in peace, Auntie, and continue to watch over us and our loved ones (especially cousins Dale, Edward, Dan, Joannie, and your grandson, Micah)…

Auntie Nene, Auntie Erlyn, Warly (mom), uncle Melchor & uncle Benny during their mini reunion in 2009.
Auntie Nene is a person who enjoys gatherings specially with her loved ones. We call her in our Tagalog language as the "Tagapakbuklod" (one who keeps everyone together) in her family, her siblings or our first generation of the Burgos clan.

This is how much auntie nene loved my mom. She was a very very loving and caring aunt and specially sister to my mother that up to now, I'm still wondering why she is so selfless when it comes to her siblings specially my mom. She's really one of a kind.

My Auntie Nene was a kind-hearted woman who loved her family. I'll fondly remember the way she always spoke so quickly and excitedly, how her eyes lit up every time her family would visit, and how devoted to God and her family she was. I was blessed to have her in my life and will cherish all the memories we shared.
I LOVE YOU, AUNTIE!!!!
Condolences to my cousins Edward, Danny and Dale. May God shower them with peace during this difficult time. They are in my prayers.
