Obituary of Glenn Rodgers

Glenn Rodgers, age 69, of Las Vegas, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Nathan Adelson Hospice. Glenn is survived by his much-loved wife, Nancy, his sons, Shawn, Nathaniel and Brendon, his daughters-in-law, Jennifer Smith and Marie Mesics, and five grandchildren, Shayna, Harley, Bailey, Kayla and Murphy. Glenn is a veteran of the Vietnam War; he proudly served with distinction in the United States Air Force. As a long-time, successful owner and trainer of race horses, he and his horses frequently posed in the winner's circle for the first-place honor. He was also an effective business man in the Greater Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. Glenn was charismatic and fun-loving. He was always known for his cutting sense of humor and his cunning and stunning way with people. Anyone he allowed in his inner circle were loved and valued. His generosity was treasured by all. Glenn has left a significant footprint with his boys. Shawn, Nathaniel and Brendon learned many valuable lessons which have helped each to become fine, meaningful, efficacious men. They learned to demand respect of others through offering respect for others. They learned that chivalry, loyalty and respect are true gifts to offer those they love. Glenn taught them to never forget they were valued; value and love others as well. His words and advice exercised great power; they always made the murky clear. Yes, Glenn taught them much. No one was loved or respected more than Glenn's wife, Nancy. He discovered that love is real and love is the only force strong enough to make him truly happy and content. With Nancy he discovered the specialty of mutual respect, tolerance, compromise, cooperation, and love. Together, they shared time, offered each other a listening ear, a needed word of encouragement, an accepting attitude, a contagious smile and giggle, each a cherished gift of self. He loved her without limit. The funeral will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Kraft Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S Durango Drive #104, Las Vegas, NV. Burial will follow at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City on Tuesday, September 9 at 12:00 pm. .
