Obituary of Elijah Lucas Allen

Elijah Lucas Allen was born in Wisner, Louisiana on January 28, 1944 to the late James and Lily Allen, and raised by James and Delma Allen from the age of three. He grew up in Watts, CA. His childhood was traumatic in many ways, but he did not allow these traumas to define him. He was 6’ tall in the natural, but he stood like a giant to those of us who loved and adored him. He had such big faith in the Lord Jesus Christ also – Monumental Faith. Elijah served in the Navy during Vietnam. Upon exiting the Navy, he started working at Chromizing Corporation overhauling jet-turbine engines and was quickly promoted to management due to his intellect and stellar work ethic. He returned to school and graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills with a BA degree in Business Administration. He was also an architect and general contractor. After retiring from Chromizing, he started his own successful business – Big A Contracting and Architectural Services. Elijah loved boating, fishing, and camping in his motorhome – which he did until his body just flat out refused to go anymore. But what he loved most of all were his family and friends. He was a loyal man who was committed to being there and honoring those in his life. He married Betty Edwards at the tender age of 18 and she has been his beloved for 52 years. He is survived by his sweet wife and three daughters; De’Nean Coleman-Carew, Stacie Parsons, and Mia Allen. Grandchildren are Tiana Coleman, Corielle Putnam, Doug and Tony Parsons, Alycia Parsons, Maxwell Carew and Naraya Allen. Great grandchildren are Maxwell Carew Jr., Marley Carew and Kaelan Putnam. Elijah lived and loved with his Whole Heart!!!! He is free now to run again, like he did when he beat Shaun in that street race when he was much older than the young football star. One of his favorite sayings was, “There is no mountain for a climber”. Be Encouraged- Never Quit! The superb male role model that he was and the way he loved us all with everything in him will always be with us. The funeral will be held at 8:00 am on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147, with burial at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City to follow at 10:40 am. .
