Obituary of Doris Gayle Brown-Turrentine

Doris Gayle Thomas was born October 18, 1952, in Los Angeles, California. Doris was raised in Compton, CA, where she graduated from high school. Upon graduation, Doris took various jobs that allowed her to come into her own, developing her gift for gab and her natural ability to meet new people and form lifetime friendships. Doris eventually took a job with the Southern Pacific Railroad where she met and married Robert E. Brown III in 1981. From her marriage to Robert, she bore three amazing children, Sarai L. Brown, Isaac J. Brown, and Isaiah T. Brown. It was also during this time that she was saved, sanctified and filled with the holy ghost. In 1992, she became a Licensed Evangelist and began her journey of preaching the word of God to anybody and everybody she came in contact with, rather it be in the church or the line at the bank. Doris was never afraid to share the goodness of God and all he had done and was doing for her. In 2006, Doris and Robert decided to end their marriage so as to strengthen their friendship. It was at this time that God brought Palmie L. Turrentine into her life. Doris and Palmie married on February 14, 1997 and moved to Las Vegas, NV a few short years later. Doris and Palmie have remained in Las Vegas since 2001, sharing their love for God and each other, while maintaining their commitment to their kids and the ministry. Doris is survived by her loving husband, Palmie Turrentine. Her children Kim Brown, Sarai Brown, Isaac Brown and Isaiah Brown. Her grandchildren Wendell "Trey" Greer, Brian Thomas, Nevin Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Araya Brown, Elijah Brown, Colt Brown, Justice Jackson and Teresa Kile. And her great-grandchildren Giselle Greer and Shannon Barefield. Her father David Maxwell, her siblings John Clutchette, Gregory Clutchette, Guy Maxwell, Derrick Maxwell, Terry Maxwell, Denise Maxwell and Pierre Maxwell. Doris is also survived by her many sisters and brothers in Christ and the friends she held so dear to her heart. Services for Doris will be held at Bunker's Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 12:00pm with a repass immediately following at Centennial Hills Community Center located at 6601 North Buffalo Drive.
