Obituary of Edgar Gross

Edgar Gross, 76, of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, after a difficult six-year battle with disease. Edgar was born September 25, 1937 in Frankfort, Germany to the late Jack and the late Gilda (Grossman) Gross. As a baby, Edgar's family moved to New York, via Spain. Edgar loved being Jewish; he studied in religious schools and Yeshiva University. He earned his semikhah under the famous Rabbi Soloveitchik. Edgar served in the Army during the Vietnam War as an orthodox chaplain. He was an excellent shofar blower and led High Holiday services in various congregations in the New York area. A math major in school, Edgar also worked as a computer programmer. Edgar is survived by his wife Phyllis Gross. A funeral service was held at Riverside Memorial Chapel in New York, followed by burial at Beth El Cemetery, in Washington Township, New Jersey on March 26.
