Obituary of Constance Joan Young

Connie J. Young, 78, of Las Vegas, Passed away 17, March 2014 as a result of Breast Cancer. Connie was born July 1935 in Orange, NJ to Russell and Margaret Swift. The Swift family moved to San Diego CA where Connie met and married Ben Young who was on active duty in the U.S. Navy on December 28, 1958 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in San Diego, CA. As a Navy wife, Connie moved many times to many locales including Alameda CA, Subic Bay / Clark Air Base R.P., Oakland CA, Monterey CA, San Diego CA, Pearl Harbor HI, and Alexandria VA. Two children, Benjamin, born 1962 in Subic Bay, R.P. and Russell, born 1966 in Carmel, CA. completed the family. Each move provided new challenges and living adjustments that Connie met with great success and dignity. Connie was a dedicated Navy wife and loving mother. In 1980, Connie began work at Naval Weapons Station Concord, CA. Connie was a conscientious employee who advanced from clerk to computer specialists and received many outstanding performance awards. In 1997, Connie and Ben moved to Las Vegas. Connie is survived by Ben, her husband of 55 years. Her children Ben of Las Vegas and Russell and wife Shannon of San Antonio, TX. Also, Grandchildren Shaun Young and Erica Young of Omaha, NE. Sister Muriel Rogers who resides in Sonoma, CA. Services are Private. Connie will be inurned at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, CA. Special gratitude goes to Nathan Adelson Hospice and Bright Star Life Care for the comfort and support provided.
