Obituary of Miriam Schrager

Miriam Schrager, 85, a 25 year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014. Miriam was born October 12, 1928 in Czechoslovakia. A Holocaust survivor, she was taken to Auschwitz at age 11. Her parents and sister were murdered by the Nazis. After liberation, she returned to her hometown to find her uncle. They immigrated to Israel, at age 17. She was one of the first members of the Haganah. Miriam moved to the United States in 1962, knowing no English. She lived in New York, Miami and Los Angeles, before moving to Las Vegas. She eventually earned a beautician license and met her current husband, Harry, also a hair dresser in Van Nuys CA. Miriam is survived by her husband of 28 years Harry Schrager of Las Vegas, daughter Adina (Michael) Grodsky of Los Angeles CA; stepdaughters Myra (Leonard) Finnell and Sandra Goetz; and grandson Benjamin Grodsky. A funeral service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery on February 26, 2014. .
