Obituary of Howard Keith Sontag

Howard Keith Sontag, 65, a resident of Las Vegas and Henderson for over 30 years, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014. Howard was born October 23, 1948 in Brooklyn NY to the late William and the late Myrna Sontag. Howard served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a POW. He worked as a mechanic for his father's service station in Ft. Lauderdale FL, earned a PhD in Mathematics from MIT and then worked as a computer programmer and mainframe troubleshooter for IBM. Howard loved people, cars, radio scanners, and dogs. He was a member of the NRA, a sharpshooter and a scuba diver. Howard is survived by his wife, Jane Torrance; son Ian (Donna) Sontag of Merchantville NJ; siblings Lisa Glass of Grayson GA and brother Craig Sontag of Ft. Athens GA; and friend and caregiver Iris Torruella. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at King David Cemetery, 2697 E. Eldorado Ln., Las Vegas, NV, 89120.
