Obituary of Bernhard Levy

Bernhard Levy, age 82, of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013. Bernie was born November 24, 1930 in Manhattan NY to the late Irving and the late Lena (Rudnick) Levy. Bernie served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He attended Pratt Institute to study art and had a career as a graphic designer, he is most famous for his illustration of Olde New York Poster as well a graphic artist for magazines, in addition to a fabric designer and responsible for designing for some of the largest Cosmetic Firms in the world, ie: Revlon, Jordache, and Seiko to name a few. Some highlights of his designing career included working for People Magazine, JCP Penney, the ANDY Awards, assisting with the 1976 200th Anniversary for the City of New York, working with LIFE magazine when John F. Kennedy was assassinated and classified ads for AT&T. Early in his life, Bernie also ran a bar and grill. Bernie enjoyed making cars and trains out of watch parts and creating ceramics. Bernie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Renee Levy; daughters Laura (Scott) Karmin of Old Bridge NJ and Lisa Engelman of Mason OH; grandchildren Jonathon (Mary) Marcus, David (Melissa) Karmin, Joy Marcus and Marissa Karmin of Old Bridge, and Danielle Engelman, Brandon Engelman, Ronnie Engelman and Ryan Engelman of Mason; Great Grand Daughter Briella Marcus and a brother Marvin Levy of Yonkers NY. The funeral will be held at 9:20 am on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV. Contributions in Bernie's memory may be made to the YMCA or the Disabled Veterans.
