Obituary of Steven Charles Tribus

Steven Charles Tribus, age 69, of Henderson, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013. Steven was born June 2, 1943 in Rockaway Park NY to the late Albert and the late Frances Marie (Cohen) Tribus. Steve enjoyed a career in education. He began his career as an English teacher at Canarsie HS in Brooklyn, where he met his wife, Marilyn. Steve quickly became a department head at Grover Cleveland HS in Queens. Not long afterwards, he was promoted to the Director of English for NYC schools. He completed his career as Superintendant of Schools of the Huntington Long Island School District. He was a talented high school baseball pitcher, who had a tryout with the Yankees and the Phillies, and continued to follow baseball his entire life. Steve was an avid golfer and wine enthusiast. He loved to travel, exploring much of the world's cultures. Steve is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Tribus; sons Craig (Melissa) Tribus of Henderson and Evan (Alison) Tribus of Montclair NJ; and grandchildren Jaelyn and Jordyn Tribus of Henderson. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at the King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane Las Vegas, 89120. Burial will immediately follow.
