Obituary of Selma Eleanor Lazarus

Selma Eleanor Lazarus, age 79, a 16 year resident of Las Vegas, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013. Selma was born June 9, 1933 in New York, NY to the late Harry and the late Anna Masin. Selma spent most of her life in Queens NY and worked as a medical claims examiner for Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was an avid reader, often reading multiple books at the same time. Selma was a welcoming woman, regardless of religion, she would invite friends to holiday dinners and family gatherings, never allowing a friend to be alone during the holidays. Selma was also a very generous, forgiving person, some say, even to a fault, sometimes being slighted by others, but never holding it against them. Selma is survived by her daughters Michelle (Sydney) Ginsberg and Robin (Barry) Whitaker; grandchildren Shelby Ginsberg and Troy and Reese Whitaker; and her dog Morris, all of Las Vegas. She is predeceased by her husband Ira Lazarus and her brother Henry Masin. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Wellwood Cemetery in Farmingdale NY.
