Obituary of Norman Chi Lam

Norman Chi Lam, age 74, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021. He was born in Viet-Nam on June 17, 1946. He grew up in Viet-Nam with his sister, Wendy, and then met his wife of 50 years, Stephanie. In 1975, he and his family immigrated to the United States. After moving to several cities, he finally settled his family in San Jose, California and worked for Therma-Trane as a Journeyman Pipefitter for 20 years. Nearing an empty nest in 1998, he once again relocated. This time to Las Vegas, Nevada. He soon found a job as a Facilities Manager for the Clark County School District where he worked until his retirement in 2012. Whether it's converting a soy sauce bottle into a hummingbird feeder or building a dehydrator out of a kitchen cart, he will be remembered for his creativity and innovative spirit. In helping his family flee a country in civil war, he demonstrated his dogged determination even under the most challenging circumstances. His willingness to strike up a conversation about any topic was evident in the broad spectrum of friends that he had. He is survived by his wife (Stephanie), daughters (Jennifer and Christina), son (Theodore), sister (Wendy), niece (Michelle), and grandchildren (Quymbee, Madison, Nathaniel, Zachary, and Galvin).
