Obituary of Elsa Dorothy Rosenberg

Elsa Dorothy Rosenberg (nee Schuman), 96, a previous resident of Bayside, New York, passed on November 12th at the assisted living facility where she resided in Henderson, Nevada. Her daughter, Julie and son-in-law, Dr. Bruce Snyder, were with her when she passed. Along with her fraternal sister, Phyllis Vera, Elsa lived in London with their parents, Emanuel and Lily Schuman. Elsa was a graduate of the Pittman Business School and also worked in an airplane engine-building factory during WWII where she was a secretary. She was the devoted wife of 53 years to her late husband, Ralph, whom she met on a ship returning to her home in England in 1949. They spent the entire voyage in each other's company and continued their relationship in England. Upon Ralph's return to the US, he asked, trans-Atlantically, for her hand in marriage and they were wed on November 24, 1949, at the home of Ralph's aunt and uncle. Elsa became a proud naturalized American citizen in 1951. Ralph was a proud WWII veteran and will join Elsa after life in Nevada. Elsa enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, writing poetry and was praised for her dedication to work, family and her community. There were some who published her poetry in the community where she enjoyed her life and family. She was a lover of nature and humankind, and her poetry and writings reflected that love. Elsa was a very witty person, which she instilled in her children. Her business expertise was recognized by all of the executives for whom she worked. Elsa was also a lover of Classical music and especially Straus waltzes. Elsa and her family were members of the Bay Terrace Jewish Center in Queens, New York and she was dedicated to her Conservative Judaism. The family celebrated major holy days with appropriate devotion. She is survived by her daughters Brenda Rosenberg of Medford, MA and Julie Rosenberg Snyder, son-in-law Bruce and grandchildren Amanda Snyder Cole and Ethan Snyder, great-grandchildren Ella and Rider Cole, all of Henderson, NV and many nieces, nephews and cousins in US and England. One first cousin, Daphne Madwin, is a resident in Summerlin, NV. Elsa is truly loved and will be dearly missed. Services will be held at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery chapel, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City NV 89005 in Boulder City, NV on Friday, December 4th, at 10:40AM. Burial will follow on the cemetery grounds. Arrangements are being made for Elsa's husband to be laid to rest with her. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Jewish War Veterans, animal care organizations or Habitat for Humanity. Caring, by Elsa D Rosenberg If you care for one, you love them. If you love them, then you care. This is all one has to know To overcome despair. So let them know you love them, It's not so hard to do. And they, in turn, will reach inside And give their love right back to you.
