Obituary of Peter Lyn Stephenson

Peter Lyn Stephenson, 80, of Mesquite, Nevada made his journey through Heaven's Gate Monday, September 21, 2020 at Mesa View Regional Hospital in Mesquite, Nevada with immediate family at his side. He was born May 30, 1940 in Rochester, Minnesota to Floreene Marie Gile Stephenson and Louis Bernard Stephenson. Pete grew up in Rochester, Minnesota where he joined the Navy in 1958 and earned his GED. He served honorably before returning home to Minnesota where he married the love of his life, Linda Lou Westlund, in Rochester, MN on June 25, 1961 and later moving to the Twin Cities area in MN, where they started their family. Pete loved to drive all over the country to visit family and when he was not driving, he was walking miles a day talking to everyone along the way. Pete loved playing cards with Linda and friends or family laughing and telling one of his many stories. When he was home you would find him doing little projects around the house or sitting at the computer playing spades. Pete believed in taking his time and enjoying life, his friends and family. Pete is survived by his sister Kay Stephenson, his sons Rex (Barbara) Stephenson, Randy (Bobbi) Stephenson, his daughter DeAnna (John) Skeldon; his grandchildren: JariAnne (Justin) DeLorm, Kyle (Janelle) Stephenson, LeBreah Skeldon, Alex (Bailey) Stephenson, Celena (Louie) Skivolocke, Robert Stephenson, Joey Hart and Tommy Hart; and his great grandchildren: Aiden Lee, Janea Eileen Marie, Zaiyne Edward-Stephenson, Ka'Morah Dior Eileen, Icarus Orion and Serenity Marie. He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Stephenson, his mother and father, Floreene and Louis Stephenson, his sister Donna Stephenson and his brothers Robert Stephenson, Richard Stephenson, and William Stephenson. His family had private services for him in Las Vegas, Nevada. Grandma opened the Gates and you heard her call, but everyone's in too big of a hurry, you would say so you strutted the distance into her waiting arms. It hurts to lose you but now you both belong to Heaven and until I see you again, I'm jealous of all the Angel's who get to play the next hand! By: LeBreah Skeldon (granddaughter)
