Obituary of Curtis Parker McMurtrey

Curtis McMurtrey born September 7th, 1922 was born to parents Eli Willis and Betty and a large farming family including his siblings Bernice, Mynila, Imogene, Mary, Jane, Dortha, Wilma, Andrew, Alton and Milford. Curtis is survived by Jane, and Dortha. Curtis was raised in West Texas in Brown County. After graduating high school from O'Donnell High School in 1942, Curtis joined the Navy and served from August of 1942 through January 1946. He served on three different ships as a Machinist Second Class including the USS Davis, USS McNair, and the USS Repose. Curtis then found the love of his life and married Mary Logan in 1945 and was married for 58 years until Mary's death in 2003. Curtis is survived by his four children, Karin, Wayne, Charles and Carl. He is also survived by five grand children Eli, Kealy, Curtis, Stephen and Jennifer and six great grand children, Charlotte, Deveron, Katie, Hayden, Savannah, and Jackson. Curtis worked at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque, New Mexico mostly on third shift to raise his children and he retired after 32 years of service. A service will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico on December the 10th at 11:00 AM, at the Sunset Memorial Chapel located at 924 Menaul Blvd.
