Shaw Chen

Obituary of Shaw Kuo Hsiau Chen

Shaw Chen passed away due to natural causes at the age of 56 on June 1, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Shaw was born on December 31, 1963 in Taipei, Taiwan.  At the age of 11, he moved with his family to Carlsbad, California.  He is a graduate of Carlsbad High School and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Over the last 35+ years, Shaw excelled at his various management roles in the wholesale and retail industries.  Throughout his career, he showed a great deal of dedication to his job and valued the friendships he made at work.  Many of his former colleagues remained friends with Shaw even after leaving their jobs.  Outside of work, Shaw enjoyed playing golf, tennis, cooking, working on home projects, watching sports (Golf Channel, horse racing, and his beloved Dallas Cowboys), and spending time with his friends and family.  His greatest joy was being married to his wife of 13 years, Clare.  Shaw loved playing the role of uncle to his sister’s and friends’ kids.  Having spent much of his youth watching over and nurturing his two younger sisters, Shaw was especially good at caring for children and loved spending time with them as well as celebrating all their milestones.  Shaw is known for endearing qualities such as his hard-working and humble character, kind and loving spirit, easy-going sense of humor, bright and dimpled smile, infectious laugh, creativity, and generosity.  But perhaps most fundamental to all his admirable personality traits was his self-sacrificing nature and unfaltering sense of responsibility toward his family and friends.  As a husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Shaw’s actions always exemplified what it means to give love unconditionally.  While he has left this world much too early, his treasured spirit will undoubtedly continue to live on in every person he has touched over his precious lifetime.

Shaw is survived by his loving wife, Clare; his father, Hsiao Lung Chen; his mother, Amy Shu; his brother, Joe Lee; his sisters, Linda Chen and Winnie Gan (David Gan); his two nephews, his niece, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
