Shellie was a mom to so many. Birds, turtles, tortoises, ferrets, Fresno the frog, other people's teenagers- if they showed up on the doorstep Shellie would take them in, give some great mothering and some food and always make sure you knew you were welcome and had had a place to stay. I remember her laugh and her little cough because most of her birds also laughed or politely coughed like their "mom". The world where I knew Shellie was a better, softer place.
All of my love to you Shelly, Jordan, Tobin, Matthew, and Ethan. May her memory be a blessing.
