Obituary of Gloria May Bishop

Gloria May Bishop, age 80, a 15 year resident of Las Vegas and formerly of Arlington Heights IL, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2018, after a long illness. Gloria was born July 2, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Morris and the late Adele (Zwerling) Loiterstein. She graduated from Temple University with a degree in Education. Prior to having children, Gloria taught Junior High School math and dabbled in art with charcoal and oils. Once the children arrived, she transformed into a fantastic stay at home mom, who was always present for her children. The family moved from Philadelphia to New Mexico and then back to Pennsylvania, settling in Phoenixville, PA, Gloria's hometown. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a loving mother, wife and grandmother. Gloria acted in a community theater in the Philadelphia area and was a serious sports fan who loved the Philadelphia and Chicago teams. She was always active in the synagogues where she lived, most recently as President of Temple Bet Emet. Gloria is survived by her husband of 35 years Cooper "Tom" Bishop; children Marlene Grossman of Evanston IL, Jeanette (Holger) Bucks of Mundelein IL, and Elliot Grossman of Vashon WA; stepchildren Mark (Anne) Bishop of New Hampshire, Dana Bishop-McBride of Meridan ID, Jacqueline (Steven) Austin of Long Beach CA and Andrea (Brian) Igelman of Eagle ID; grandchildren Kara and Joel Gitskin, Mitchell and Blake Grossman; seven step grandchildren; and her former husband, and father of her children, Perry Grossman,MD. She is predeceased by her sister Harriet Caplan. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM on April 27, 2018 at Bunker's Memory Gardens Cemetery, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road, Las Vegas, NV.
