Obituary of Sara Rosenberg

Sara Schneiderman Rosenberg was born in the Carnsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York on September 21, 1926, the second child and only daughter of immigrants Julius Schneiderman and Yetta Glick. The family, including Sara and her older brother Vic, moved to Passaic, New Jersey when Sara was young girl. From a young age she had a flair for style, which she never lost, and as a teenager Sara worked at the Fair clothing store on Main Avenue in Passaic. After graduation she worked at Western Electric during the war and post-war in an administrative job at Beth Israel Hospital. Sara was married to Bernie Rosenberg in 1948. They had their first date after their mothers arranged for them to meet when Sara was looking for a Sadie Hawkins date for a dance. They dated for six months and Sara always said that if she couldn't marry Bernie, she wouldn't marry anyone. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in 2012. After they married Bernie and Sara moved from Passaic to Clifton, New Jersey where they lived for 34 years raising their three sons, Neil, Steven and Paul. Sara and Bernie retired to Las Vegas where they lived together in their beloved city for 27 years. They embraced the city, its lifestyle, and mild climate and never regretted what was a grand adventure for them. Sara lost Bernie in February of 2013 and deeply mourned the love of her life. Sara was a loving mother who always put her children first. She was a person of deep warmth and was a great listener who always had good advice offered without judgment. She engaged easily and formed deep connections quickly whether it was with a neighbor, a sales clerk, or the other regulars at bingo. With her friendly and outgoing nature both she and Bernie found Las Vegas to be a great place to interact and meet people. Always fiercely independent, she lived on her own until her last days. Sara died on February 27, 2015. Funeral Services were held at Bunkers Memory Gardens Cemetery, Las Vegas, NV. She is preceded in death by husband Bernie, her parents and her brother Vic. She is survived by her sons Neil Rosenberg of Portland, Oregon, Steven Rosenberg and his wife Rebecca Biggs of Portland and Paul Rosenberg and his wife Ruth of Philadelphia. In addition she has three grandsons Lee Luchs, Cal Rosenberg and Zeke Rosenberg and granddaughter Ariela.
