Obituary of Jacob Isador Karabel
Jacob Isador Karabel, age 57, a 30 year resident of Las Vegas died Sunday, September 5, 2010. Jacob was born September 19, 1952 in Atlanta, GA to the late Harold and the late Claire (Altman) Karabell. Jacob was a dealer and worked at many of the gaming establishments in Las Vegas including the Mirage and the Bellagio. Jacob was an avid bowler and Philadelphia fanatic, and he especially loved numerology. He always made people smile when he described their characteristics and inclinations with spot on accuracy only using their name and date of birth for background information. He was also a strong advocate of education guiding and instilling in his children the value of higher learning and the prospects of a better life. He is survived by three sons: Aron (Batia Epelbaum) Zwi Karabel of Poughkeepsie NY, Abraham Karabel of Las Vegas NV, Samuel Karabel of Grand Junction, CO; two brothers: Keith (Anna) Karabell of Memphis TN, and Charles Karabell of Philadelphia, PA; and a grandchild Peyton Nathaniel Karabel. Donations in Jacob's memory may be made to Temple Beth Shalom, 10700 Havenwood Lane, Las Vegas, Nevada 89135. A graveside service was held on September 7, 2010 at the Temple Beth Sholom section of Woodlawn Cemetery.
