Obituary of Paul Jay Rappaport

Our beloved dad,Paul Rappaport, passed away from respiratory failure while being hospitalized for a fall. He was 91. Paul was born in Detroit to Louis and Bessie Rappaport. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Florence, who he adored and idolized, daughter Lisa Zagha(Ron), son Richard, grandson Perry Zagha the light of his life of Palos Verdes Estates CA. Paul was kind, easygoing, spontaneous and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed making friends and family laugh by wearing a funny hat or get-up. His love for his parents, siblings, and many nieces and nephews was apparent and ever present and he was happiest being with his kids and going to visit them. Everyone looked forward to Uncle Paul's frequent trips back to MI and even took their "first trip to L.A." to stay with him. Paul would surprise his house guests by putting fake dog poop or throw-up on their belongings and wait for their reaction. Paul was an avid tennis player continuing to play doubles into his 80's. Upon retiring to Summerlin NV,and his capable son overseeing his property investment and management business, Paul looked forward to playing his trumpet again. He was a Big Band Jazz enthusiast playing in the Army Air Corp Band and UNLV Community Concert Band. He will be laid to rest at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in a private service on March 15, 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Bernie Sanders campaign.
