Obituary of Carol Jean Chabre

Carol Jean Chabre, 96, of Las Vegas, died Sunday, November 22, 2015. Carol was born December 3, 1918 in Elkhart IN to the late Frank E and the late Esther (Brandt) Mishler. After growing up in Indiana, Carol moved to Cleveland OH to attend Case Western Reserve, earning a BS in Education. She taught elementary school in Chagrin Falls OH for a number of years, then drove cross country to teach at a ranch school in Tucson AZ, where she met her husband and married three months later. They had two daughters and moved to Las Vegas in 1958. She worked at Matt Kelly Elementary School and Valley High School in Las Vegas. Carol was very involved in the American Association of University Women. A lifelong learner, she enjoyed participating in OLLI at UNLV and was working toward a MA in Library Science. She also enjoyed traveling with her daughters. Carol's outlook on life was "Think happy thoughts!" Carol is survived by her daughters Suzanne Chabre of Henderson and Carole (Bruce) Kroyer of San Ramon CA; granddaughters Ashley Kroyer and Darby Kroyer; sister Betty Carpenter; niece Beth Ann Walsh and nephew Scott Carpenter. A funeral service will be held at noon on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Christ Church Episcopal, 2000 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV. Burial will follow at Davis Memorial Park. .
