Obituary of Bernice Veronica Glodowski

Bernice Veronica Wicka Glodowski, 89, of Pahrump, Nevada, passed away peacefully at Nathan Adelson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada, after battling a long illness, on November 10, 2015. She was born at hom in Winona, Minnesota on February 24, 1926 to parents: Pelagia S. (Kramer) & Jacob Z. Wicka. She married her beloved husband John Glodowski Jr. on October 20, 1951 in Winona, Minnesota (who preceded her in death on May 6, 2010). Her childhood was spent happily with her borthers, Ronald (Marguerite), Stanley, and Joseph (Nancy). Her oldest brother Jacob, passed away at birth. They are all predeceased, along with her many borthers-in-law & sisters-in-law. Bernice graduated from St. Stanislaus Elementary and Winona Senior High School. She began her working career at Jones & Kroeger Publishers & Office Supplies. While working there, she was eventually joined by her brother Joseph. Upon the closing of J & K, she worked for various area doctors, including her favorite, Dr. Boardman. During her time in Winona, Minnesota, she was involved in various doings with the St. Stanislaus church and school, including the priests & nuns. It was during this time she was President of the St. Stanislaus P.T.A. for numerous years. On Labor Day weekend 1966 the family relocated to Beloit, Wisconsin. This is where her brother Ronald resided. After getting settled, she began work at the Flexicore in South Beloit, IL, for many years. She remained there until starting work as a school secretary in the Beloit School District, where she remained until her retirement. She especially enjoyed her time in the School District working with the various staff at different schools. One of her favorite staff members was Mr. Merlin Nundahl. He was her Principal at many schools. While she was the school secretary, one of her facorite things to do for the kids was "Holiday Dress-Up Day." Depending upon the holiday, she would dress-up n a special costume. These were all sewn by her "Special Seamstress" Mrs. Francis Reneau. Francis got the biggest charge ou of Bernice's size 0/1 that she had to use for the patterns. The various costume's included an Easter Bunny, a d Thanksgiving Pilgrim, and Santa's Elf. It was also during her time in the School District that she participated in the "Teacher's Follies" plays for many years. She liked to read, do crafts, and decorate for the Holidays. She loved being social at various charitable, religious and fraternal events. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Beloit, WI and Our Lady of the Valley in Pahrump, NV. She served the communities as a Liturgical Reader and Eucharistic Minister, as well as regularly participating in church events and John's Knights of Columbus activities. Bernice is survived by her son, Michael Glodowski (Joan) of Beloit, WI, and her daughter, Ann Tao (Wayne) of Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren: Justin Tao (Razel) and Jared Tao (Teresa) of Las Vegas, NV and Jason Glodowski (Jennifer) of Beloit, WI. Great-Grandchildren: Troy, Karleen, Teagan, and Chloe. Brother-in-Law: Roman Glodowski (Beverly) of Pahrump, NV. Sister-in-Law: Dianne Glodowski (Bobby – Predeceased) Bullhead, Arizona. Along with numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Special Note: She was alo preceded in death by her companion pen Corgi: "Ali" (Alexandra Desirae). According to her wishes, Kraft-Sussman Funeral Home in Las Vegas, are handling her arrangements. At a later date, a memorial mass will be held at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Las Vegas. Burial will be at Mount Thabor Cemetery in Beloit, Wisconsin. (A private service, as per her wishes.) A special "Thank You" to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
