Obituary of Michael Kamer

Michael Kamer, age 82 of Las Vegas, died June 10, 2010. Michael was born in Lublin, Poland on April 10, 1928 to the late Moses Kamer and Brunia (Czker) Kamer. A victim of the Holocaust, Michael survived a Russian prison camp in Serbia and upon liberation, he and his parents found their way to the American sector in Berlin. Michael trained as a dental technician in post war Germany and was part of the Zionist movement in Europe, helping to liberate Palestine. He remained an ardent Zionist his entire life. At 22, Michael immigrated to the United States, where he met and married Fay. Michael and Fay raised 2 children, Gregory and Lenora, during their 25 year marriage prior to Fay's death. Michael later married Barbara and had a third child, Danny. Michael is survived by his wife of 33 years, Barbara Kamer of Las Vegas; his children Gregory Kamer of Las Vegas, Lenora Norris of Atlanta GA and Danny Kamer of Las Vegas; his grandchildren Joshua Norris and Fay Ann Sherris of Atlanta GA, Michael Kamer of Long Beach CA and Foster Kamer of New York NY; and his great grand children Ethan and Avi Sherris of Atlanta GA. Donations in Michael's memory may be made to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary, 8103 Racel Street, Las Vegas, NV 89131. A private service is scheduled.
