Obituary of James Christian Dammeyer

James Christian Dammeyer (Jim, Radish) age 73 of Las Vegas, NV passed away on Monday, April 6, 2015. He was born on November 21, 1941 in Jersey City, NJ to Christian and Elizabeth Dammeyer. His sisters are Claire, Betty, and Linda. He was married to Linda Joy Spring on January 20, 1968 in Saddlebrook, NJ. Jim attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology, The University of Nevada Las Vegas, and received an Associate's degree from the College of Southern Nevada. He was member of Phi Theta Kappa, he was a commissioned officer in the New Jersey National Guard, and a third degree knight in the Knights of Columbus. Over the years he owned his own businesses, and after moving to Las Vegas dealt poker and worked armed security. He loves football (Go NY Giants!), target shooting, drawing and art, tutoring math and other subjects, and telling both good AND bad jokes. He was a very active member of Christ the King Catholic church and served as a funeral coordinator, Eucharistic minister, and assisted with many other services. For many years he and his wife served as a team couple for Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Jim loved to read you stories.. out loud! And his kids often joked there would be a test at the end. He had a great sense of humor and frequently retold "the tie joke" to anyone who would listen. Jim is survived by Linda his wife, his three daughters Christie and husband Jimmy Cullors, Jennifer, and husband Chaviet Lowery, Amanda and husband Phillip Rael, his grandchildren Alexandra, Jimmy, Aidan, and Carissa, his sisters Claire, and Linda, and Chris Hatter. He is predeceased by his mother and father, sister Betty. All services will be held at Christ the King Catholic Community at 4925 S. Torrey Pines Dr, Las Vegas, NV, 89118. The Visitation takes place on Sunday April 12th from 5:30pm-7:00pm with the vigil following thereafter. The funeral will take place Monday April 13th, at 11:00am with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Christ the King Catholic Community.
