Obituary of Marilyn Ergottino

Marilyn Ergottino a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada, originally from New York, sadly passed away at the age of 74, on Friday July 14, 2017 at Nathan Adelson Hospice from complications of open heart triple bypass surgery. Marilyn was born on August 15th, 1942, to her late parents Lydia and Enrico Fragola. She was one of nine children, four sisters and four brothers. Marilyn is the beloved wife of Ernest Sr., the beloved mother of three, her late son Ernest J Ergottino Jr., and her beloved daughters Denise and Christine. Marilyn is also the beloved grandmother "Nanny" , to Lauren Alyssa. She is also survived by many relatives; her oldest sister, nieces and nephews and their families, many friends and her beloved service dog , Shadow. Marilyn Ergottino grew up living in Manhattan, New York. She started dating her future husband of fifty six years Ernest Ergottino Sr. at age 16. She worked for the New York Telephone Company and eventually moved to the Bronx, NY. Ernest and Marilyn were married on April 30th, 1961. They started their family in the Bronx. Later, in 1974, Marilyn and Ernie moved with their family to Medford, Long Island, NY. They enjoyed the beginning of their new life in the suburbs on Long Island where they raised all three children. They joined Saint Sylvester's Roman Catholic Church. When her youngest was twelve, and her other children grown, she began work at the Internal Revenue Service in Holtsville, NY. Marilyn became an active volunteer throughout her years on Long Island. She enjoyed helping, giving and doing good deeds for others. In the 1990's, Marilyn joined the New York State Columbiettes Council #6844 at Saint Sylvesters Roman Catholic Church. She was one of many original members for many years. The non-profit organization helped raise donations and fundraisers for various community needs. Marilyn always encouraged helping those less fortunate while bringing everyone a genuine smile and sweet caring personality. She later became president of the Council and always continued to be such a caring and loving sister Columbiette to all her sisters and brothers in the entire non-profit organization. Her husband, Ernie, was a Member Knight Fourth Degree of Knights of Columbus Council # 6844, also known as the Little Council with a big heart. Marilyn was always a sweet and loving person and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She always welcomed all in her home, wherever she lived. She always offered a home cooked meal or a huge holiday dinner that she prepared herself. Marilyn made sure everyone had a joyous time. She always made everyone feel special. Her kindness and her devotion of care and love to others always made her shine. She really put all of her effort in making any occasion the best time and always gave others the feeling of wanting to return to another celebration. Marilyn did everything for her family. She always chose to put all others before herself. Marilyn's pride and joy was her Granddaughter Lauren Alyssa. Nanny loved to watch her sweet granddaughter as often as possible. Marilyn enjoyed reading art history, loved doing crossword puzzles and relaxing. She enjoyed watching movies, listening to music of all ages and going to concerts. Marilyn grew up with Elvis Presley and the music of the 50's. As time went on and her children were growing up, she enjoyed all varieties of the 70's, 80's, 90's and more. Some of her favorites; Chicago, The Eagles, George Michael and she especially liked American Idol runner up - Adam Lambert. Marilyn and her family moved to Las Vegas in 2003, for retirement years as well as a better life. Long Island was getting too expensive and the weather too cold. Marilyn visited the West and really loved the beauty of nature with the red rocks and the sunny days. Marilyn enjoyed watching AFL Football, especially Tom Brady and his team the New England Patriots. Las Vegas became home for Marilyn and her family, she enjoyed many short trips to California and Utah. She especially enjoyed the many camping trips with her family. Marilyn's favorite vacation was a 2006 cross country road trip from Las Vegas on Route 80 and returned on Route 40. Marilyn and Ernie enjoyed the beauty of America, she always considered that one of her favorite vacations. Marilyn enjoyed sitting in her backyard watching all her dozens of beautiful roses grow. She also enjoyed the many beautiful colors of the sunset sky here in Nevada. A visitation and memorial mass will be held on Monday August 7, 2017 in the chapel of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church located at 1811 Pueblo Vista Dr. Summerlin , Las Vegas, NV 89128. Visitation will be held at 10am, followed by the Memorial service at 1030am. Also, the Second Memorial Mass will be held in Medford, Long Island, New York. This memorial mass is Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1030am at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church located 68 Ohio Ave. Medford, New York 11763. This is also a dual mass for Marilyn 's late son Ernest J. Ergottino Jr. (Tino). The interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located 3442 Route 112, Coram, NY 11727.
