Obituary of Denise Nina Wilbourne

Denise Nina Wilbourne - Nee Roberts was born July 11th, 1962 in Port of Spain, Trinidad to proud parents Hollis Roberts and Yvonne Barbara Borde. Her early years of education were in Port of Spain until she moved to Kingston, Ontario, Canada where she completed her education at Saint Lawrence College. Nina was accepted into the prestigious Otis Art Institute of Parson’s School of Design in Los Angeles, California, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts. She worked with many notable artists in the music industry including Miles Davis and John Melencamp just to name a few. Denise Nina’s thirst for education led her to acquiring another Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from Colombia Film School in Screenwriting. During her time in Los Angeles she met good friend Mother Dorthey Hurley Maxwell and through her invitation, she began working with the youth and teaching Sunday school at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ. It was there that she met her future husband of 28 years, John Vincent Wilbourne. Vincent and Nina immediately hit it off but due to Nina’s heavy academic course load, their casual conversations over coffee had to wait. Over time Nina and John became good friends and Evangelist Hazel Stokes was inspirational in mentoring the two young Christians in their walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. After a two year courtship, Nina and Vincent were married on December 1st, 1989. As a young bride, Nina lived in Beverly Hills and began working in the Fine Arts and Jewelry industry. As a Fine Arts and Jewelry professional, Nina maintained excellent working relationships and was known for her radiant personality and ability to close difficult deals. After 14 years in Beverly Hills, Denise Nina and John Vincent relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada. With their confidence and trust in God, their bond grew tighter and their lives began to prosper. With daily prayer and supplication, Denise Nina and John Vincent entered each day seeking God’s will for their life. Nina would prepare herself mentally and spiritually with harmonious hymns in an effort to keep her spiritually prepared to be used as a vessel to draw others to Christ. As Denise Nina’s career began to take off, she became one of Las Vegas’s most sought after Fine Art gallery managers. Throughout her distinguished career she demonstrated overwhelming success in developing luxury fine art and jewelry collections. She was very passionate about her work and ability to deliver legacy collections for all her worldwide clientele. She also enjoyed working with notable charities such as the Chinese Alliance and Nevada Opera. Denise Nina cherished her husband and family; loved God with all her heart and will be missed by many. She was proceeded in death by her parents Winston Hollis Roberts and Yvonne Barbara Borde, she leaves behind her loving husband John Vincent Wilbourne, siblings Nicki Roberts, Nicole Roberts and Michael Roberts, aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
