Obituary of Taeko Yamagata Nitta

Taeko Yamagata Nitta, age 83, of Las Vegas, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. Taeko was born August 1, 1933 in Jerome, Idaho to the late Tsuruzo Oshima and Ura Yamagata. She received her education from Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind in Gooding, Idaho. She married her husband Roy Kazumi Nitta on October 24, 1958 in Los Angeles, California. Taeko worked in data entry for the Mattel Toy Company. Her hobbies included watching the Chicago Bulls and Utah Jazz (especially Michael Jordan), watching Judy Garland and Randolph Scott as well as western movies. Taeko also enjoyed playing card games and was a good seamstress. Even though she had the NBA channel, Taeko would of course watch the live games and then re-watch basketball games over and over again. If there was a game on and her family was going to dinner, she always had to position herself so she could watch the game or else she rushed home to be able to watch the game on her TV. Taeko is survived by her children Liz Mieko Nitta (NV), Rick Kazuo Nitta (Kim) (CA), Sherry Michiye Saunders (Charles) (ID), John Eichi Nitta (UT), Kent Kazumi Nitta (UT), Stephen Tamotsu Nitta (Stacey) (CA); daughter in law Terrie Nitta (NV); 26 grandchildren Lance Berstler (NV), Jennifer Schiffman (ID), Andrea Collinsworth (ID), Alayne Carter (NV), Steven Krambule (UT), Jason Nitta (UT), Dean Krambule (UT), Heather Nitta (UT), Ryan Nitta (UT), Dallin Nitta (UT), Chelsea Nitta (UT), Logan Nitta (UT), Devon Nitta (ID), Gavin Nitta (UT), Pearce Nitta (UT), Amanda Ballard (UT), Tadj Nitta (UT), Kenneth Nitta (UT), Renee Nitta (CA), Maegen Nitta (UT), Haley Nitta (UT), Morgan Nitta (CA), Keegan Nitta (UT), Derek Nitta (UT), Emi Nitta (UT), and Mikalah Nitta (CA); 26 great-grandchildren Christian, Cullen, Caleb, Jordan, Aria, Austin, Paul, Romy, Lily, Jacob, Rose, Lilly, Abby, Gavin, Jasmine, Leia, Jade, Ruby, Sage, Rylee, Kai, Kenji, Elijah, Ezra, Aiden, and Adam; 3 Great great-grandchildren Tylei, William (due any day) and baby girl (due in February); sibling Gene Yamagata (Allyson) (NV); and nieces and nephews Clara LaMantea (Bob) (WA), Wanda Yamagata (Russ) (ID) and Benny Yamagata (Lily) (NV). Taeko is predeceased by husband Roy Kazumi Nitta (10/19/13), brother Frank Shigeto Yamagata (8/7/13), sister Mary Teruko Okada (3/29/13), son LeRoy Tsuruzo Nitta (7/7/12), and brother George Juichiro Yamagata (8/8/08). A viewing will take place Friday, December 16, 2016 from 3:30p – 5:00p at Kraft Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S Durango #104, Las Vegas, NV 89147. A second viewing will take place from 2:00p – 2:45p prior to a 3:00p funeral service at The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1801 S Monte Cristo Way, Las Vegas, NV 89147. Taeko will be laid to rest on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 9:00a at Bunkers Memory Gardens, 7251 W Lone Mountain Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89129.
