Obituary of Arthur "Gus" William Wood

Arthur "Gus" William Wood, age 85, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016. Gus was born April 10, 1931 in Norwood MA. Gus served in the US Army, priot to and during the Korean Conflict, attaining a rank of Sergeant. He was the operator/owner of A&E Transmission in Norwood, MA. Gus was a Life Member of VFW 1645 in Stoughton, MA, serving as Post Commander from 1977-1978. He was a founder of Amvet Post 1977 in Stoughton, MA and served a number of years as Commander, Sr Vice Commander, and District 5 Commander. Gus was very active in Veterans Charities and contributed to many charities in Stoughton. He was also the member in charge of VFW Bingo for five years at the Stoughton Armory every Sunday. Gus is survived by his wife Dorothy G Wood of Las Vegas & former wife Antoinette S Wood of Stoughton, children Herbert Mac Faun of Stoughton, MA, Patti L Wood of Stoughton, MA, Denise Large of Des Moines, IA and Adrienne M Wood of Stoughton, MA; stepchildren Herbert Heffernan of Vista, CA, Eric Heffernan of Brockton, MA, David Heffernan of Honolulu, HI, Russell Heffernan of Las Vegas, NV, Dawn Heffernan (Albillar) of Las Vegas, NV and Kathleen Heffernan( Saturnio) Las Vegas, NV; siblings Alfred Wood Jr of No. Easton, MA; step-siblings Carolyn Thorburn of Belmont, ME, Richard Wood of Falls Church, VA, Ronald Wood of No. Easton, MA, Kenneth Grover of Wareham, MA and Kathleen Fancher of Braintree, MA; 15 grandchilren and 9 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his siblings Robert Wood, Edward Wood, Sandra Jones and Barbara Wood; and step sister Nancy Stevens. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 15 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147, followed by burial at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City, NV 89005.
