Obituary of John Neal Willey
John Neal Willey, age 61 of Las Vegas, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born August 17, 1955 in Langdon, North Dakota to the late George Leroy Willey and the late Betty Jo Henry. John met the love of his life in Michael Lane and the two relocated to Las Vegas and purchased their new home together. Sadly, Michael suffered a massive heart attack and passed away at an early age.
John was heavily involved in a volunteer capacity with the Human Rights Campaign/ Las Vegas Chapter doing his part to help advance the cause of equal rights and protections for LGBTQ people. He was also very active in politics and realized the importance of not sitting on the sidelines.
John is survived by his sister Laura Olivas of Sacramento, CA, brother Jim Willey of Las Vegas, NV, and best friend Aaron Bolen of Las Vegas, NV.
There is a celebration of life event that is being planned now and will be held at the Gay and Lesbian Center of Las Vegas, 401 S. Maryland Parkway, 89101. Parties interested in attending can contact Aaron Bolen by email at aaronbolen89@gmail.com. They will then be notified when the event is confirmed.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Jude’s Cancer Center or The Clinton Foundation. Both charities do extremely important, lifesaving work that John deeply believed in.
