Obituary of Mark Yeheskel Bar-Or

Mark Yeheskel "Hezy" Bar-Or, age 89, of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, October 3, 2016. Hezy was born March 28, 1927 in Jerusalem, Israel to the late Marek and Bronka Bar-Or. He fought in the British & Israeli Armies and was very involved in the formation of the State of Israel. Hezy was a Captain when he retired from military service. After returning he became a guide and traveled all over Israel with tour groups. During one of the tours, he met an American girl who would eventually become his bride. He married his wife of 50 years Suzanne (Schnurnberger) Bar-Or on May 28, 1966 in New York City, NY. Hezy enjoyed golf, drawing, storytelling and was an avid fan of the tv show “Walker, Texas Ranger”. He also had an impressive collection of cowboy hats inspired by the show and was rarely seen without one. Hezy also served as Senior Vice Commander in the Jewish War Veterans Post 64 in Las Vegas, NV. Hezy is survived by his Wife Suzanne Bar-Or of Las Vegas, NV; children Amir and Nili (Gadi) of Israel and Tamar (John) of Las Vegas, NV; one grandson, three granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, two nephews and one niece. He is predeceased by his brother Oded. The funeral services and interment was held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1500 Las Vegas Blvd. N, Las Vegas, NV 89101. "Que sera, sera, whatever will be, will be."
