Obituary of Pauline Mintz Walker
Pauline Mintz Walker, 94 of Las Vegas, NV passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease. Pauline was born April 2, 1922 in Passaic, NJ to Friedrich and Mary Mintz. She graduated from Clifton High School, NJ in 1939. She worked as executive secretary to the aviation pioneer Jacqueline Cochran, and attended the New School for Social Research in New York City. In 1940, she married Lester Sogorka and had two children, Lester "Butch" Sogorka (deceased) and Jacqueline Stickley. They divorced in 1959.
She moved to Long Island, NY where she later met and married Paul Walker. After relocating to Palos Verdes, CA, she attended UCLA and became a real estate broker and President of Walker & Associates, which she co-owned with her husband. They had two daughters, Dale Walker and Maria Walker. They resided in Palos Verdes and then Newport Beach CA before moving to Las Vegas, NV in 1996 where she continued working in real estate until 2012.
Pauline leaves her devoted husband of 57 years, Paul Walker; daughters, Jacqueline, Dale and Maria; sister, Adele Sogorka; niece, Karen Goldey-Houlihan (John), daughter-in-law, Rosie Sogorka; son-in-laws, Dewey Stickley and John Colombo; grandchildren, Lisa Roehling, Tamara Stickley, Dante Colombo, and Paulina Colombo; grand-nephews, Robert (Tracy) and Brian Goldey; two great-nephews; four great-grandchildren (Angela, Emily, Allison and Dakota); and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Mintz (Stam); son, Lester Sogorka; brother-in-law, Jack Sogorka; nephew, Robert Goldey III; and granddaughter, Patricia Devine. Pauline also leaves many dear friends.
She was interested in politics and enjoyed reading and travel. Pauline will be remembered for her humor, determination, and generosity. She will be missed deeply. Donations in Pauline's memory may be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association http://www.lewybodydementia.org/donate.
