Obituary of Ianeta Leleua Memea

On the evening of August 28th, 2016, Ianeta (Mama) L. Papalii Memea passed away peacefully at the age of 90 after a brave battle with cancer; while being attended and comforted by family members at home in Las Vegas, NV. Ianeta was born March 25, 1926, in Moataa, Samoa to Papalii Sione and Lili Maina Maui. She has seven brothers and two sisters, five preceded her in death. Ianeta was educated in Moataa Primary School, St. Ann Catholic Girls School and Papauta Girls School. She attended nursing school where she graduated and earned her staff nurse certificate. She married Memea Teniseli Taliafi Wetzell on December 1st, 1950, in Moataa. They were blessed with three children Tutaga-o-Vaaloa, Francis and Jane Emma. Ianeta loved the Lord and taught her family to put Heavenly Father first. She dedicated much of her time and energy in teaching the importance of FAMILY and the Samoan culture to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her interest included farming, raising live stocks, sewing outfits for her granddaughters, bingo, singing, dancing, studying religious subjects, praying for each of her loved ones, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ianeta joins her parents, her loving husband, her son Francis Teniseli, grandsons Francis Irwin Palepoi and Morianton Ponchovilla Palepoi, her brothers Samoa Poulava Ini, Laumua Filimaua, Pulu Ropati, Papalii Ioane, Papalii Viliamu in heaven. She's survived by her daughters Tutaga (Anthony) Palepoi; Jane Teniseli Hunkin; brothers Faamamafa (Sefulufitu) Papalii, Joe Papalii; sisters Amio (James) Andrews, Fenumia'i (Amosa) Toa; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Family and Funeral services will be held at First Christian Church, 101 S. Rancho Dr., Las Vegas, NV, 89106. Family service on Monday September 12th, 2016 at 6pm. Funeral service on Tuesday September 13th, 2016 at 9am. Burial will immediately follow at Palm Eastern Cemetery on 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV, 89123.
