Michael Weiss

Obituary of Michael J Weiss

Michael J. Weiss, 60, of Las Vegas passed away February 7, 2016. Michael was born in Brooklyn, NY to parents Lillian and Jay Weiss. Michael leaves behind his loving wife Gail, who he shared over 37 years of marriage, during which time they adopted their only child, son Mitchell. Michael is also survived by his adored puppy Shadow, his closest family - cousins Robin and Scott and nephew Brian - and family friends. Michael loved his family and friends for whom his main goal in life was to see them enjoy life; loved ones’ happiness truly brought him his happiness. Michael was a passionate Jets, Mets, Knicks and Rangers fan. One of Michael’s favorite past-times was to attend and watch his beloved teams with his son. It was the bond over these teams which strengthened this father-son relationship to become one of the strongest bonds in each of their lives. Michael would strive to give his son only the best and would stop at nothing to ensure that he had it. Michael was an amazing father; always in his son’s corner and always teaching Mitchell about how to enjoy life. Michael was Mitchell’s role model, mentor and hero. When not spending time with his son, Michael enjoyed being able to travel with his wife. From their three-destination honeymoon to their final getaway only 10-miles from home, Michael truly enjoyed being able to get out and spend time with his wife. Their marriage survived 37 years of life’s ups and downs, good times and tough times and some pretty funny times, but regardless of what came their way, it was their love for one another which always had a way of working things out. Michael will be forever missed by all. A memorial service will be held at Kraft Sussman Funeral Services at 10am on Monday, February 15, 2016 - 3795 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104 Las Vegas, NV 89147. A reception and celebration of Michael’s life will be held immediately following the service at the Weiss’ residence. Anyone wishing to pay their respects is welcome. If you wish to pay your respects but are unable to attend, the family kindly asks that you make a small donation in Michael’s name to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org) or the Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org).
