Obituary of Helaine Beecher Spoor

Helaine Beecher Spoor, age 96, of Las Vegas, died Sunday, January 24, 2016. Helaine was born May 10, 1919 in New York NY to the late Samuel and the late Hazel Beecher. Throughout her amazing life, she accomplished a great may things including raising her 2 boys, finishing school and earning her Master's degree. Helen was an award winning and acclaimed artist, who attended the Otis Art Institute and studied under Boris Deutsch. She enjoyed a long career of painting and was featured in many galleries in Los Angeles. She went back to school to earn an MS in Interior Design. Building a successful career as an interior designer, she was a founding member of ASID, and honored with an award in her name. To this day, the Helaine Spoor Award is presented to up and coming designers. Helaine is survived by her sons Mitchell (Barbara) Spoor of Henderson NV and Randy (Ileen) Spoor of Henderson; grandchildren Marc (Janin) Spoor of Northridge CA, Lisa (Josh) Stevens of N. Hollywood CA, Brian (Annie) Spoor of N. Hollywood, Abbie (Marco) Villanueva of Henderson NV, and Kevin (Kesha Dorsey) Spoor of San Diego CA; and great-grandchildren Hailey and Peyton Spoor of Northridge, Corinne and Lainee Villanueva of Henderson and Zoey Stevens of N. Hollywood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Douglas Spoor.
