Obituary of Ted Cryder Anderson

Theodore "Ted" Cryder Anderson, Jr., passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 at the Nathan Adelson Hospice with his wife Mary Cerny Anderson at his bedside. FUNERAL SERVICE: Ted will be interred with military honors at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, in Boulder City, Nevada immediately after a brief memorial service at the Veterans Chapel at 9:20 am on Thursday January 21. Local arrangements were made through Kraft-Sussman Funeral Home. A Las Vegas resident for over 27 years, Ted was born February 12, 1927 in Hayden, Arizona to Theodore Cryder & Winifred Evelyn McCollough Anderson and is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a BS – Mechanical Engineering where he was a member of the Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. A professional engineer in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, Ted's career spanned over 40 years with executive experience in both commercial and government enterprises. Ted retired from his engineering position with the U.S. Bureau of Mines Department of Energy in Dallas, Texas and immediately relocated to Las Vegas to enjoy retirement. An aviator and math/science enthusiast, he enjoyed games of chance and skill and developed and refined unique statistical systems to further his enjoyment of the sport. Ted was particularly fond of jazz music and for years started the Dixieland Band at The Gold Coast each day Monday through Friday. Ted was a 32 Degree Mason of the Southern Jurisdiction of the United States of America's Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Bill Wilson was a friend of Ted's and made a profound influence in Ted's life for over 40 years. Ted was one of the Dallas Cowboys most dedicated fans. SURVIVORS: Ted is survived by his wife Mary Cerny Anderson of Las Vegas; daughter Lee Dale McGuire and her spouse Chuck McGuire of Colleyville, TX; son Theodore Cryder Anderson III and his spouse Jai of Doha, Qatar; and daughter Traci Ann Alexander of Little Rock, Arkansas; stepson Geoffrey Richard Cerny of McKinney, Texas; stepdaughter Mary Eileen Johnson of Plano, Texas; stepson Patrick Collins Cerny and spouse Lauren of Corpus Christi, Texas; and brother Donald Duane Anderson and his spouse Mary Jane of Oklahoma City; as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. Brother Robert Dale Anderson of Oklahoma City predeceased Ted.
