Obituary of Edward Skemer

Edward Skemer, age 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday, June 16, 2010. He married Linda Rose Ettinger in October 1967. After high school graduation, Eddie served three years in the Navy. He then went to work in his family's business, Dale Home Furnishings, in the Bronx. Eddie was active in the Spirits group at the Jewish Community Center in Yonkers. Eddie and his wife, Linda, moved to Sun City Summerlin in 1996, where he became involved in a number of groups including serving as President of the Sun City Men's Softball Team, where he was instrumental in the development of the Sun City softball field. He also served as President of the Sun City Paddle Tennis Club, was an avid golfer and a volunteer for the Bet Knesset Bamidbar Men's Club. His major focus was his grandchildren. Edward is survived by his wife of 43 years, Linda Skemer of Las Vegas; his daughters Julie (Brian) Flack of Evans Mills NY, Amy (David Wasserman) Skemer of Pomona NY, Wendy Skemer of Thousand Oaks CA and Jill Skemer of Danby VT; grandchildren Cory and Chad Flack of Evans Mills NY, Jake Samuel Yamashita, Jadyn Alexis Yamashita and Niki Beth Krupnick of Thousand Oaks CA, and Kyle and Cassie Skemer of Danby VT; brother Robert (Joann) Skemer of Unionville PA, sister Rochelle (Dick) Way of Zephyrhills FL, sister-in-law Sue Finn of Del Ray Beach FL, and uncle Phillip Aronson of Del Ray Beach FL.
