Obituary of Peter McAllen Wood

Peter McAllen Wood died on Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born on September 27, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois. Peter was the last surviving child of the late George Wood & Kathryn McAllen. He joins in death his parents, along with his older brother, Daniel Wood, and his twin sister, Mary Jane Wood. May they all now rest and find the comfort of eternal peace. Peter grew up in Chicago. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning, he moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and began working for the telephone company, Northwestern Bell (which we all now know as AT&T). He was later married to Mary Jo Klingsheim in 1975. Their son, Peter McAllen Wood II, was born on January 1, 1976. Mary Jo passed away in 1992. Peter raised his son mostly on his own. He retired from the phone company in 1990. His hobbies included boating, camping, and an avid love for the game of Bridge. Peter owned and operated Bridge Clubs in & around St. Paul during the 1990s. His love of card games finally led him to Las Vegas, where he continued to try his luck in Blackjack and Poker tournaments, as well as in home games. But his grandsons were his great source of pride and joy. Jonathan Patrick Wood was born on March 17, 2003, and Nicholas Spencer Wood was born on December 22, 2006. It is through them that he will continue to live on long after his death. The circle of his life is now complete, but Peter will continue to be missed by many of the people who knew him in his lifetime.
