Obituary of Susan Fay Holsonbake

Susan F. Holsonbake, age 72, of Las Vegas, passed away Monday August 5, 2013 after an extended period of illness. She was at home in the wonderful care of Seldon, her loving husband of 39 years. Susan was born November 11, 1940 in Los Angeles, CA to the late Irving Bass and the late Bertha "Birdie" (Singerman) Rich. Susan attended Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles where she made many lifelong friends whom she cherished. Susan worked as a bookkeeper and finance manager for various organizations including a family healthcare staffing business and her own freelance bookkeeping practice. In retirement her love of card games led her to become a licensed card dealer where she enjoyed a period of dealing her favorite games, Pan and Poker, at the Union Plaza hotel. Susan had many wonderful passions in life, and first among them was her family. She is survived by her husband Seldon Holsonbake, children Scott Singer and husband Joe Sadler of Los Angeles CA, Sheri Singer and Steven Christal of Las Vegas NV, Sigrid Lipsett of Camarillo CA, grandchildren Kelly and Kayce Singer of Las Vegas NV, Rachel and Kenny Back of Petaluma CA, Brent and Raquel Lipsett of Camarillo CA, great grandchildren Mason, Hayden, and Jayden, brother Lee Bass and sister-in-law Berte Bass of Los Angeles CA, sister (by affection) Eileen Singer of Las Vegas NV. Susan also had many friends, in-laws, and extended family that she cherished, many of whom she knew from early days in Los Angeles, and others she met in Las Vegas but who became just as dear to her. Susan loved so many things including travel, cooking (especially holiday baking), card games, movies, trying new restaurants, entertaining friends, decorating, theater, dance, concerts, and, yes, even soap operas and reality television shows. Susan loved to laugh and could infect the room when she got the giggles. She was community-minded and volunteered on the board of the local homeowners association, advocated for community improvement at public meetings, and volunteered as a peer counselor for PFLAG. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services, 3975 S. Durango Drive, Suite 104, Las Vegas, NV 89147, with reception to follow at the family home.
