Obituary of Robert Franklin Burmeister

Robert Franklin Burmeister, 86, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed from this world and went home to heaven on April 23, 2013. Bob was born in Ashland, PA to Harold and Ethel Burmeister on September 14, 1927. Bob lived in Torrance, CA for 54 years with his beautiful wife Janice. Bob and Janice were married on August 23, 1952, for an impressive 61 years. Bob and Janice relocated to Las Vegas in 2008. He proudly served in the US Army Air Corp from Oct 1944 through May 1945, and in the US Navy from 1945 through 1948 as a crewman on a PBM 3/5 Mariner. After settling down in Torrance, he worked as an aircraft mechanic, and as a systems analyst in the aerospace industry. Upon his retirement from Boeing, he enjoyed serving the City of Torrance as a crossing guard. Many children and their families loved and appreciated the protection "Bob the Crossing the Guard" provided on the corner of Prairie Ave and 182nd St. Bob and Janice were charter members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Torrance. He enjoyed working in his garage building model aircraft, playing softball, and spending time with his family. He is survived by Janice; their sons, Mark and Kurt; daughters in law Jeanne and Debbie; and 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Caitlin, Joshua, Mark, and Jonathan. A memorial service will be held at the Chapel on Nellis Air Force Base, Las Vegas, NV at 3:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2013.
