I just wrote this whole blurb and deleted it by accident as I'm falling a part after putting this photo album together on FaceBook. My Grandma Tillie was the greatest! I held it together until viewing all the photos of her throughout the years, all 96 of her years, and 39 of mine.
My Grandma Tillie passed away today. She was the coolest grandmother. We all called her by her name because she was everyone's pal. She drank beer and laughed a lot. If you crossed her she'd say: "I'll give you a zetz and a chomia!" It took me a while to understand what her Yiddish meant. Tillie was the pinpoint and stronghold of the family. An era has passed in our family history.
Although she seemed sad sometimes, it only took the smiles and laughter of grandchildren and great grandchildren to light up her eyes. Tillie was warm, caring, friendly and easy to talk to. She very much enjoyed meeting people. My friends and my sister's friends and my parents' friends all became her friends.
Tillie was a fighter. She had seen a lot of rough times in her life, but constantly looked forward to spending time with my Mom, my sister and I and all of her other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Now she is gone. It's up to all the cousins to stay in touch and keep the family together and the Elzweigs in spirit.
Tillie will return to her late husband and two of my Mom's older sisters in heaven. I'm sure my grandfather is banging on the pearly gates: "Woman, where the hell have you been? I've been waiting for decades." My grandma will enter the gates. And then some Glen Miller music will play and my Grandpa Seymour will take her hand, turn her around and lead her into a dance as if they were back in the 1930's.
I love you Grandma Tillie! You will live in my heart forever.

I had so many great memories of my Grand Mother that it is hard to pin point one or two specila moments.
All I can say that she lived a long and Happy Life. She was very tough being able to deal with the passing of my Grand Father and not too long after my Mother Elsa and my Aund Bonnie passed as well. She was surrounded with love from all of us and her Great Grand Chirldren as well.
She will be missed tremendously, however she remains in our thought and forever in our Hearts.
We love you always.
Rest in Peace.

Tillie was a fantastic woman with a lot of spunk. She entertained Jaime and I for hours in Florida, Armonk and California. We have lots of memories of Tillie playing Rummicub. She loved everyone and was such a warm individual. She brought joy to everyone that knew her and had a wonderful laugh that I can still hear now.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
With love and kind regards and to a wonderful woman.
Katherine
